NATIONAL LABOR DAY
Monday’s are most people’s least favorite day of the week, so what better way to spend it than to have it off of work! Today we celebrate Labor Day. We add an extra day to our weekend to celebrate the labor movement, which gave to us better working conditions and fair treatment from our employers and the government.
NATIONAL CHICKEN BOY'S DAY
A roadside icon which is often referred to as the “Statue of Liberty of Los Angeles, California”, Chicken Boy is a statue of a boy, with a chicken head, holding a bucket of chicken.
NATIONAL EMMA M. NUT DAY
This day commemorates Emma M. Nutt (1860-1915), the first female telephone operator in America. Sept. 1 was her first day on the job, and she did so well that they began hiring only females as telephone dispatchers.
NATIONAL NO RHYME (NOR REASON) DAY is annually celebrated on September 1, is celebrating words, in the English language, which do not rhyme with any other words. These are words that poets try to avoid using at the end of a sentence ex: orange and month.
