Gila County Receives Grants To Improve Infrastructure
The Tonto National Forest will receive a total of $24,000 to provide trail maintenance on the East Mountain Trail, Troll Road Trail Loop, and repair flood damage to the Cottonwood Canyon portion of the Arizona National Scenic Trail.
The committee provides communication and support for governmental agencies in rural eastern Arizona, under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.
At its meeting on July 22 and 23, at the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests Supervisor’s Office, the RAC approved a total of $902,423 worth of projects in five counties, Apache, Gila, Graham, Greenlee and Navajo counties. “The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest wishes to thank the many members of our communities who volunteered their time and expertise to making this year’s RAC a positive and successful event,” wrote the Forest Service in a press release.
