The following letter
from John Marcanti
to Kathy Hunt
I want to thank those of you who contacted me by phone and email about your concerns regarding the flag that flies over Pleasant Valley. This morning I sent out an email request for information from Mr. Neil Bosworth, Tonto National Forest Supervisor,
regarding this issue.
This afternoon I received a phone call from Debbie Cress, District Ranger for Payson and Pleasant Valley and she has advised me that she has no intentions of removing the flag in question. She did state that someone does need to apply to the Forest Service for a use permit, She stated that she is also very willing to sit down with any of the residents of Pleasant Valley and discuss the issue.
Please forward this information on to those of you for whom I don't have an email address. I am pleased that I was able to assist you in this matter. Also, please be sure that someone does apply for the required use permit.
John D. Marcanti, District III Supervisor
Gila County Board of Supervisors

It appears that Debbie Cress is now willing to approve a special use permit for our flag! The Pleasant Valley Veterans group already has a call into her office to get the process started. We will keep you informed of their progress, and let you know when her final decision comes in.
A huge "THANK YOU" to all of you who have made calls, sent e-mails, sent encouragement to our community in various forms. It has made a difference! We are hopeful that this permit will be approved, and our Veterans can take ownership of the flag.
If not, we can guarantee that you will be the first to know!!
